Serena Choo, a poker amateur from Singapore, was the overall point leader winner at the Snow Queen Macau Poker Cup Series which had its final event last June 25th at the Bankroll. Serena managed to accumulate 481.85 points during this seven week series and get into the Grand Finale where she finished 10th. She shared with us her experiences in the thrilling world of poker. Here is what she had to say. Last Christmas on a family holiday in the quiet countryside in New Zealand when we were looking for things to occupy our time in the evenings, when there was nothing else to do! We started learning poker together through a poker book i bought at the airport. Do you consider yourself a poker pro? You must be kidding! Of course not, I am still very much a beginner Who are your favorite poker pro players and why? Who are the poker pro players?? I don’t know any as I do not follow the world poker championship tournaments. Do you have any superstitions at the table? No, I don’t. What is your favorite poker hand? Pair of Aces because it is challenge to play them well to win big, or if not, l would end up losing a lot. How would you describe playing style? Intuitive- I read people. You play regularly at HKPL tournaments. What is your overall impression of the HKPL? Very good, well organized. Good and friendly atmosphere. What has been the most surprising thing you have learned about playing in tournaments? That I can actually play poker! You recently won the Snow Queen Vodka Series at the HKPL, how does it feel to have beaten all the men? I am not sexist- I consider men equal. Do you play online poker? No, because I like the human interaction in live tournaments. What has been your biggest poker achievement to date? Winning this HKPL tournament series! What are your main ambitions within Poker for the future? Participating in the WSOP in Las Vegas, and hope to do well there. What are the steps behind becoming a great poker player and what advice would you give to up and coming poker players? I have no advice, because I am still looking for other’s advice.
